From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT, HKEX: 4338) is a multinational computer technology corporation that develops, manufactures, licenses, and supports a wide range of software products for computing devices. Headquartered in Redmond, Washington, USA, its most profitable products are the Microsoft Windows operating system and the Microsoft Office suite of productivity software. The company was founded to develop and sell BASIC interpreters for the Altair 8800. Microsoft rose to dominate the home computer operating system market with MS-DOS in the mid-1980s, followed by the Windows line of operating systems. Its products have all achieved near-ubiquity in the desktop computer market. One commentator notes that Microsoft's original mission was "a computer on every desk and in every home, running Microsoft software." Microsoft possesses footholds in other markets, with assets such as the MSNBC cable television network, the MSN Internet portal, and the Microsoft Encarta multimedia encyclopedia. The company also markets both computer hardware products such as the Microsoft mouse as well as home entertainment products such as the Xbox, Xbox 360, Zune and MSN TV. The company's initial public stock offering (IPO) was in 1986; the ensuing rise of the company's stock price has made four billionaires and an estimated 12,000 millionaires from Microsoft employees. Throughout its history the company has been the target of criticism, including monopolistic business practices and anti-competitive strategies including refusal to deal and tying. The U.S. Justice Department and the European Commission, among others, have ruled against Microsoft for various antitrust violations accordingly in today's political-cultural climate of mixed economies and "public interest of society". I have used Microsoft Power Point a few times, but that was quite a few years ago, and was with a different version of Microsoft Word. I have Microsoft Word 2003. Asked by yoohoo - Wed Sep 17 00:54:53 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. MS Word and MS PowerPoint are applications available in the MS Office suite. If you installed MS Office 2003 in its entirety, then PowerPoint should have been installed. PowerPoint isn't typically opened while you're in Word - in other words, there's no menu option or toolbar button or keyboard shortcut in Word that automatically runs PowerPoint. You can create a hyperlink in Word that runs PowerPoint by selecting some text (or an image if you like), then right-clicking and selecting Hyyperlink. Then, in the "Link To" frame on the left side, make sure the Existing File or Web Page is selected. Next, click the arrow on the far right side of the "Look In" option and select Local Disk C. Then, double-click on the Program Files… [cont.] Answered by tallbarb99 - Wed Sep 17 03:22:39 2008 How could I find my Microsoft word product key through the program itself? Q. Q. Is there a way i can transfer microsoft word from my desktop which is a dell to my macbook using my flashdrive? Asked by munich132 - Sat Nov 29 19:34:50 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Saving programs, MS Word or another, to memory sticks (or CD's or whatever else), usually will not permit them to be reloaded onto the machine. First, it's very difficult to find all the visible pieces of complex software applications. They're sometimes in directories other than the application's main one (the C:\Windows directory, for instance). Second, application installs often store critical bits of information in a huge system file called the Registry. It's usually not possible to pull out all the pieces you need, and it's impossible to copy the Registry from one machine to another without wrecking the second machine. And that's assuming you want to move it to Windows running on a Mac. To the Mac OS itself -- not a chance. … [cont.] Answered by The Phlebob - Mon Dec 1 01:28:59 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Microsoft"
