Examples of current dispute over whether to have strong central government?
Q. After the Revolutionary War, some Americans wanted a strong central government while others did not. Cite examples of the controversy over government power today
Asked by Ally - Thu Nov 13 07:31:00 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. One premuim example of that struggle for jurisdiction is the 'medical marijuana' issue. The States are passing laws legalizing this practice, while federal agents are still applying federal laws to enforcement. It is destined for the Supreme Court, which will ultimately decide who has the power, the central (federal) government or the states.

A. Primarily soybeans, corn, and canola. The corporations that own the patents on seeds that have been genetically modified so that Monsanto can make more money by dousing their entire fields with Roundup and the like are just laughing all the way to the bank. I highly suggest that you check out a documentary on this issue called "The Future of Food." It's extremely eyeopening and frightening at the same time.

China/Taiwan. Taiwan is the last remnants of the original democratic Republic of China and is viewed by China as a rebellious province and threatens war to reunify. South Korea/North Korea. What is the current United Nations view on Self Determination?
Q. I'm doing a bit of university research, and can't find any clear status on whether the United Nations agrees with the preceding Atlantic Charter on the fact that all humans have the right to self determination, how that has manifested itself in practice into current disputes over the right to self governance of people within non-sovereign regions, or whether the groups that are entitled to enact self-governance are specified? It seems to be a contradiction between the right to self-governance and the rights of nations perceived as sovereign. Any help/sources to look into on the matter would be most appreciated. Thanks and happy holidays!

how is an escrow account used when leasing an apartment with a current dispute on the A/C not working?
Q. I am currently renting an apartment where the A/C unit has not worked properly since we have moved in. It's been a little over a year and about every other month we have to call maint. and have them "repair" the unit for it to break down again. I have all the work orders showing what they have fixed each time, but now it has gotten to the point where they have come out 4 times this month to fix the unit and aren't offering any compensation for the trouble. I want to know more about putting my rent into an escrow account until the unit is either working properly for more than 2 months or the unit is replaced before I start withholding my rent. Any information or links that may help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A. I am presuming you did not ask this question last week; it simply duplicates one I answered then. visit my article on this topic at associated content.com for more specifics--however... The law is clear-- you have sought repairs and the repairs for whatever reason have not worked. YOU have 2 choices-- [since you are not in risk of your life,] you may hire your own repair men--- or maybe you did that already?? or you may pay for a replacement unit and that may come out of rent. if rent is 500 a mo and the unit is 2500, you get 5 mo free rent. the law provides no other options. U may NOT escrow your rent. That sounds good but is not permitted. thus, we all pay as agreed, or pay for repairs and or replacement and get reverse… [cont.]

Global warming is obviously a man-made, current phenomenon. What kind of idiocy is required to dispute this?
Q. Sorry, my question was unclear and makes it look like I'm interested in some farcical debate. If you can read, it is clear that global warming is non-cyclical and man-made. A. The kind of idiocy required is the rational, impartial, unemotional thought kind. Have a read of my sources, especially the stuff by Christopher Monckton. Monckton was an adviser to Margaret Thatcher on science issues. His basic procedure was to look at the actual science itself and then look at what was being said about that science. If what was being said was a fair representation of the science, then it was reasonable. If however, what was being said constantly quoted the extremes of the science and always in only one direction, then it was not reasonable, it was a scam. A. Whether your employer will find out or not depends on federal law and/or company policy. Some employers do an initial background check and no more. Others do scheduled periodic checks as required by federal law and/or company policy to update employee files. Due to the sensitivity of a bank position, I venture to say you will have periodic checks and they will know eventually. How soon, don't know. When in doubt and serving in a position of TRUST, it is always better to be honest and up front rather than have your employer get blindsided and think you were being dishonest or trying to hide something from them. Whether you lose your job will also depend on federal law and/or company policy. If you cannot hold your position if/when charged/ [cont.]

He is also striking beneficial deals for other countries in the region. Worse, a charitable group in the US asked oil companies for a special deal for the extremely poor, particularly old people who couldn't afford heating. The other companies refused - but he came to the rescue. seems reasonable at a quick look except that challenging US influence and trying to help the poor are one and the same thing. How can I dispute rental history on my credit report that's not mine?
Q. In 2004 a copy of my Driver's License, Social Security card and Birth certificate were stolen from the outgoing mailbox at my apartment complex and so I put a fraud alert on my credit reports. 3 years later (now), I recieved a copy of my credit report and it has an apartment listed in my name that I've never rented before. I contacted the collection agency to dispute this. I told them that I've been at my current address for over 4 years and have rental documents to prove it. He said that being able to prove where I've lived over the past 4 years doesn't mean anything because people have many different addresses. I've disputed this with all 3 credit bureaus as well. My question is how can I prove that I did not lease this… [cont.]
Asked by Diamond - Wed Oct 10 12:02:50 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Show them your driver's license and your social security card to the credit bureaus, typically it's a mixed file so they will remove it if you can prove it's not yours. Also, do you have a police report to reflect the stolen items, that will help a LOT.

A. Show them your driver's license and your social security card to the credit bureaus, typically it's a mixed file so they will remove it if you can prove it's not yours. Also, do you have a police report to reflect the stolen items, that will help a LOT.
